Copy data to new computer

Hal

I do not know how to copy my contacts (addresses, phone
numbers, etc.) to my new computer from my old computer.
My old computer is running Windows 98 - new computer is
XP Professional.

The operating system does not matter. What we'd need to know is what program
you are using to store your Contacts.

I'm having the same problem as Hal (well
a friend is and I'm trying to help).
The contacts are stored in outlook 2000. The entire
application resides on a second hard drive in
the new computer (XP). She did not export
the contacts to a .pst file prior to getting
the new computer. We can't launch the old version
of outlook because the program - an email recognition
err msg.

thanks

There is no need to launch the old version of Outlook. Just find the PST
file it was using and open it in the new installation. There's no need to
export/import.

I have the same question as "Hal". I would like to
transfer my contact list, email messages and Folder List
from one PC using Outlook 2000 to another PC using Outlook
2003. Where are these files located and how can I migrate
the data and settings?
Thanks in advance.

The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.

Take a look at these pages for info on Outlook data backup:
