Copy email into Calendar entry

H

Is it possible to copy an email into a calendar entry such as a reminder,
appt, or meeting? I was able to do this in Lotus Notes but cannot find a
command in Outlook 2007 that allows me to do the same.

Until recently I've found this a terrifically convenient feature. You can
put airline schedules, etc. directly into Calendar by dragging. However,
either something has slipped a cog on my settings or there has been an update
in Outlook 2007 that has fouled this up. It works fine on my main
workstation. I can see the item on the calendar and open it. But on my
portable and other workstations that I log onto (configured to work directly
with our Exchange on SBS 2003) I cannot open the dragged item. So I can see
that I have a flight on that day but can't read any of the infomation in the
confirming e-mail. And it's not just flights. I sometimes drag an e-mail
I've sent someone onto the calendar. I can't open and read those either.

Are you dropping the message as an attachment or as a shortcut? I usually
just drop it and the message body fills the appointment body.

Check Help, About on each system - is the version # identical on all
computers?

Thanks for the suggeston about version checking....especially since you
reminded me where to do that step. I am working remotely with only the
portable available today so can't check the version on the main workstation
until next week. But in answer to your question on 'how' I'm getting the
items to the calendar, I'm simply dragging them onto the date and dropping
them. The window that pops up asks for a time and let's me set a reminder if
I want.

I was unaware that it was still possible to use the shortcut feature. I
loved that as it didn't clutter our workstations with multiple copies of an
item. But I thought that was eliminated several years ago. These days the
only way we've known to forward things was to send an attachment. How do you
send a shortcut in Outlook 2007? I'd like to avoid that for my calendar
items for the obvious reason and I may somehow be doing it accidentally.

You can't forward shortcuts but you can use a right click & drag and choose
between creating appointments with text, shortcuts, or attachments. Default
drag should be to include the message as text in the appointment body.

Diane: I'm still having a problem with this feature that I never had a
problem with until a couple of months ago. Since I began using Outlook 2007
I have always been able to take an e-mail message from my inbox -- right
click it ---and choose "move to" my calendar. That has been useful for
keeping all of the info in the e-mail convenient on the day of the appt. I'm
not doing anything differently than I've done before, but I can no longer
open the 'moved' e-mail messages. They are no longer in my e-mail folder so
I can't go back and open them there either. Thanks for ideas....

Something is locking down objects. Did you update your antivirus about the
time the problem began? Install any addins?

If you have your antivirus integrated with outlook, uninstall it and
reinstall without email integration.
