Copy in Word 2003 error on a logo.jpeg

I have a logo produced from a jpeg that I use as part of a signature in
Outlook. It was produced for me. I want to copy it into a table in WORD
even just a normal WORD document. Everytime I try, WORD starts an error
messages box which connects to Micorsoft to send the error. No message
telling me what is wrong is provided. Then WORD recovers all open WORD
documents. What is happening? Any suggestions? I have ensured that all
Office or Microsoft updates have been downloaded and applied.
