Copy missing when importing Word docs into Quark 6.1

I have a problem when importing Word docs into Quark 6.1 (on a Mac,
OSX), in that the copy stops 2/3rds the way through... mid-sentence.
I don't see any special characters in the Word file to suggest a
problem. However, if I save it as a "Text Only" format, all of it will
import. I was hoping that a Word guru could shed some light as to what
might be happening! Thanks much!

I know nothing about Quark, but it's possible that there's corruption in the
Word document. To test that theory, turn on the Show/Hide formatting tool
and copy all of the document *except* the very last paragraph mark. Then
paste into a blank, new Word document.

Now if this occurs with *all* Word documents, then document corruption is
not the cause, and I have no idea what is.

I have recently figured out my problem... the copy included a TM
symbol and once I deleted that from the Word doc, I was able to import
the entire file into Quark. Not sure why that is a problem... any
thoughts?

The TM symbol is probably Unicode and Quark is not expecting Unicode? Or
it's "not" Unicode and Quark *is* expecting a Unicode version?
