copy & paste between excel 2003 workbooks problem

About a month ago, I became aware that I was no longer able to copy and paste
or cut and paste cell contents or merged paragraphs between separate
workbooks.

I can still do this between worksheets within the same workbook but not
workbook to workbook. The only way I can copy and paste now is to access the
info bar and copy the data within the infobar and then paste it into the info
bar of the other workbook.

This only seems to be a problem on my Toshiba Satellite laptop. I can still
perform these functions on my desktop HP.

Can anyone help me "fix" this problem? It is a very important function for
what I do. Thanks.
