copy/paste bug

Robert Olson

Hi,
We are using Project Professional 2007 and I am experiencing some unexpected
behaviors when I copy and paste a summary task with multiple sub tasks with
linked dependencies. All of the dependency links for the tasks are being
discarded when I paste. This only appears to happen after I have saved the
project to the server. If I create a new project the copying and pasting of
tasks behaves as one would expect and the linking information for
dependencies are not lost. It only happens after the project has been saved
to the server. Has anyone experienced this and if so, do you know what would
be causing this? Thanks!

Sorry that I cannot help you in this case, but could you please check
the following...

Display the field "unique id" in the current table.
Cut some tasks and paste them afterwards somewhere else (in the
table).
Do new ID's occur?
This behaviour is one of the most problems we face (with version
2003).
This will influence the PWA tasks in a way that your plan will be
corrupted after a while....orphaned tasks will remain in PWA and web
users won't recgonize this...
Danger! Hours commited on these tasks will result changes to some
completely other tasks in project schedules!!!
(therefore we use a db script that removes these orphaned tasks in pwa
database!)

Thus I am very interested if this behaviour is still the same in
2007....
Maybe this has an impact on your problems, too.
