copy/paste in word reformats text

Is there a way to paste text from another word document or website into a
formatted word document, then paste that document into an Outlook Express
e-mail and have it maintain its formatting? I have seen single-space text
become double-spaced, graphics move around and fonts go haywire into
different fonts and sizes.
