Copy & Paste, Measured Repeat?

E

emilybaker

Hi all, is there a way in Publisher to select an object or text block, copy
it and paste it, for example, 5 times using the same increment? Like in
quark or indesign, there is a step & repeat function, can that be done in
Publisher?

Thanks for any help you can give.

I probably don't understand the question but if you
simply want to know if you can paste the same
capture multiple times...the answer is yes.

Just type Ctrl+C to copy and Ctrl+V to paste as
many times as you want.

No, there isn't, but it would be relatively trivial to write a macro to
do so.

He's looking for an array command. Something that would be used in a CAD
program. Not found in Publisher.

People who know how to do something seem prone to saying how trivial it is.
(You're not the only one & this isn't the only topic I've heard this
about....)

Macros is something a lot of Pub users never get into in the first place --
maybe because it's less "trivial" than you seem to think. I didn't even know
they were "there".

But I'm just a Pub User not an expert, not even a "pro". Somehow I've
managed to use it for years, though, to get done what I needed to get done.

Come to think of it, I'm not even sure what your "MVP" comes from or who
gives it out.

There is a workaround for Publisher. On a Master page create 5 grid lines where
you will want to paste your objects. On the publication page, place your cursor
on the grid line, right-click, click paste. Not pretty, but it works.
You can place your cursor anywhere on the page and paste with a right click.

I feel your pain there... By "trivial" I meant that it would only
require beginner-level programming experience and a little familiarity
with the Publisher object model.

I've coded up a little add-in that might be helpful for you. See
