Copy paste not working

A

The copy facility is not working within MS Access. I have tried repairing
the program. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled it. I evan ran a
registry cleaner program.

Copying/pasting does work within and between other MS Office programs. I
can paste into Access from other programs. Trying to copy anything fails and
nothing shows up on the clipboard.

I have not yet completely uninstalled the entire Office suite but wonder
whether this would make any difference.

The PC is on a small peer to peer network. The database is held on a
different PC but none of the other networked PCs has any problem. There are
no restrictions placed on copying data across the network.

Any help would be appreciated.

What are you trying to copy from Access and what application are you
using to try and paste the data?

Also, what version of Office are you using?

Hello, Sorry not to provide full details in my earlier post.
Using MS Office XP. I'm trying to copy data from Access to paste into Word.
It works in reverse but nothing appears on the clipboard when copying from
Access. There are no restrictions on copying data.

Thanks

Are you starting Word after copying to the clipboard, or are both Access and
Word already running at that point? I seem to recall that in earlier
releases of Office XP, starting Word does sometimes empty the clipboard.

If both Access and Word are already running... how widespread is the
disappearing clipboard contents phenomenon? For example, when you copy from
within Access, are the clipboard contents visible and available within
Access? What about in other applications? Can you, for example, paste into
Notepad, Wordpad or Excel? In Word, are any Paste Special (Edit - Paste
Special from the menu) options available?

Success!
I've finally resolved the issue by creating a new user account in Windows XP
Pro.

Goodness only knows what the issue was - why was only Access affected? I
had even uninstalled the complete Office XP Pro suite to no avail. The
original user account had full administrator rights.

Anyway, I am so pleased to have found a solution at last. Thank you for
your input which made me think of other ways to try to resolve the issue.

I'm glad you've found a solution.

When you create a new user, you get a whole new set of registry entries, as
well as a number of settings files. So, I would guess that the problem was a
corrupted registry entry or settings files. I've also "solved" problems in
the same way, then repaired the "broken" user by *CAREFULLY* copying
selected registry entries and files from the working user to the broken
user. I usually do this is discrete steps, renaming the entries/files I
replace (rather than deleting/overwriting). This often lets me pinpoint the
exact location of the problem so I know exactly where to apply the bandaid
the next time it happens.

The new account you created... does it have full admin. rights, too?

My experience has been the Windows Clipboard is cleared, or contents
replaced, by a third-party add-in.

Perhaps you are thinking of the Works Suite Add-in? It's known to
clear the Clipboard when Word starts and Word 2002 is still the latest
version of Word included in Works Suite.

My money is on an add-in that isn't installed in the new user account.
:)

Should the problem reoccur, here's an article that may help you
