Copy & Paste problem with Word 2002

Dianne

I'm running XP Pro and Word 2002. I can't copy text from Outlook Express or
Internet Explorer 6 and then open Word 2002 and paste into a document. The
paste option on the menu is greyed out. I have to have Word open before I
copy the text from an email or a website and then the paste function works.
This does not happen with Notepad or Wordpad and never happened until I
upgraded to XP Pro. Anyone else have this problem? I did a search of
previous posts and didn't find any reference to this.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi, Dianne,

If you installed Word as part of the Works Suite, the problem is the Works
add-in. You can safely remove just the add-in. Another possible culprit is
the add-in for Stamps.com. Here's a newsgroup thread that seems to cover all
the bases:

Jay,

I've encountered the same problem on one of our machines
running Word as part of Works Suite. What Works add-in
are you referring to? Your message thread link is not
valid.

Thanks!

Sorry about the link -- it works if you paste the ".gbl" part onto the
end of the rest of it. My previous post was from Outlook Express
(ptooie!), which has a hard time with long links. Now that I'm home
and posting with Forte Agent, try this one:
