Copy/Paste Problem

I have some Jpeg files (pictures) that I cant to copy/paste into a
MSWord 2003 document. When I do a batch copy/paste of several of the
Jpeg files into the document, they do not end up in the order I want.
That is, for example. if the Jpeg files are named A1.JPG, A2.JPG, etc,
because I scanned them in that order, I want the results in the Word
document to still be in that order. Instead I get them in the order
A1.JPG, A4.JPG, A2.JPG, A3,JPG. What is dictating the order of the
paste?
