copy paste the row number in my exports

copy/paste the row number

how do i get the row number into my excel export from project? right now i
am just doing a simple copy paste, but i really need to see that row number.

Hi copy/paste,

Add the ID field to the table through Insert > Field. Then you can
select the Task ID (row number) for the copy/paste.

Pardon my butting in but "exporting" Project data to Excel using copy
and paste is very inefficient and prone to user error. You might want to
take a look at using an export table for static data (i.e.
non-timescaled), or either the "Analyze timescaled data in Excel"
utility or Visual Reports, depending on which version of Project you are
using, for timescaled data.

To create an export table, go to File/Save As and then select Microsoft
Excel Workbook as the file of type. When you hit "Save" it will bring up
the export wizard. For timescaled data, the "Anaylze..." utility can be
found on the Analysis toolbar (Project 2002 through 2003). The Visual
Reports utility is available only with Project 2007 and can be found
under the Reports menu.
