copy, paste, tiny mobile phone icon

This happens in office applications.
I'll copy some text and go to paste it into the office app.
Instead of the expected text getting pasted, a tiny icon of a mobile phone appears instead.
If I copy and paste the exact same thing again, it works on the 2nd try.

I have found that others have this exact same problem:

Nobody seems to know the cause.

I am running office XP SP3. I have all the latest updates and no other current problems. I do not have any spyware.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Dominic

If you just paste twice does it work?
Yes! As a matter of fact I have a bluetooth enabled phone and bluetooth installed on my PC to connect to it.

Could bluetooth be interfering with my clipboard like that? If so, how do I fix that?

If I paste twice without re-copying, it just pastes the little blue phone icon again.
However, if I copy the same text again and attempt to paste a 2nd time, it works.

It also seems to be a bit intermittent in terms of when it happens in general.

Have you tried Menu: Edit/Paste Special and see if one of the options
there helps? Doing a straight Paste just picks one of these as default.
I've gotten into the habit of always doing Paste Special, esp. in
Word, to do it how I want vs. how Word choses to do it.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Hi Rob,

I use paste special on occasion, but a simple CTRL-V is far more efficient when just copying and pasting text.

Due to Murphy's Law, I can't seem to get it to happen right now to check whether "paste special" will allow me to paste the intended text without re-copying. The next time it happens I will give that a try.

It's especially odd that this problem can't be duplicated back-to-back. What I mean is, when I copy and paste and get the little icon, I get frustrated and copy and paste the exact same thing again. The second time it always works. Why the same exacty copy and paste action would have 2 different results is beyond me...

Thanks for your help,
Dominic

as i said on your other posting in the other ng, my hunch is the flaw is
caused by the flawed 3rd party software. if paste special doesn't work,
then un-install this 3rd party mobile phone software. ensure it is
completly un-installed. then see if problem continues.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.
