Copy & Paste

Using Visio 2003

I am trying to copy and paste a flow chart from Visio to Word. I did a
"Select All" and then copy & pasted the chart into Word and now a lot of my
lines that connect the flow chart boxes are not lined up. Does anyone know
how to fix this problem?
ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Karen

HI,
When you perform a Copy in Visio and the Paste in Word, the default
Past behavior is to place the diagram into Word as an embedded Visio
object. This means that you will see your Word menus change to Visio
menus and you can edit the diagram in place in Word until you click
out of the Visio area and into the Word page which returns you to
Word. We've sometimes seen diagrams change in connector behavior and
layout when you do this. The easiest way to work around this is to
use (in Word) Edit>Paste Special>Picture (Enhanced Metafile). This
will paste an image into Word that is not Visio-editable in Word but
it should capture exactly what is in your Visio diagram "as-is".

You can also resize the image just as any other image in Word by
dragging its corner handle to preserve its aspect ratio.

Personally, I would prefer the default Paste behavior to be Picture
since it's rare to actually want to edit in Word using Visio. But,
that may just be my personnal preference.
