copy/pasting graphs/tables into outside messages

I work for an online university. I need to copy/paste tables and
graphs into their reply messages. When I do that, the words and
numbers show, but not the formatting.

I did special paste with formatting, but it doesn't work in their
reply window. I can't just attach the documents because it is against
university policy.

Any ideas?

No. If the reply window will not accept "paste special with formatting"
then it's going to be very difficult.

You could:

1) Save your document as a Web Page

2) Open the web page as Plain Text

3) Find the HTML code for the bit you want and copy

4) Paste that as HTML code into the reply window.

However, I suspect you will find that the reply window will not accept HTML
code either. If not, I am afraid you are going to have to tell them you
need to be able to send attachments.

Alternatively, you could take a screen capture of the item using Grab, and
paste that into their reply window.

At least that should irritate them enough to allow you to send attachments
:)

Cheers

You would need to tell us a little more.
What e-mail program are you using on your Macintosh?
If you are using something like "Paste Special" it sounds like you are
using Word to prepare e-mails. Yet you cannot send attachments?
Something I'm not understanding here?
Which application are the tables and diagrams coming from?
What e-mail programs do your students use?

You say you work for an on-line university .. and their policy is that
you cannot send attachments in e-mails back to your students?

Would you mind telling me which university? I would like to avoid it.

It looks like there is one with even stupider policies and procedures
than the UK's Open University. I would have though that impossible.
