Copy plain text ONLY

When copying to notepad, or pasting into Word 10.0+ and selecting copy Plain
text only, Word edits the text by replacing special characters, etc. Also, if
the text contains bullet or number ***FORMATTING***, Word will insert
a bullet character followed by a tab, which did not even exist in the
document. Paste as plain text should do what it says, to actually copy all of
and only the text present in the document.
The same problem occurs when pasting as plain text from one Word document
into another, as when pasting from Word into Notepad. Presumably, Word places
incorrect text on the plaintext section of the clipboard.

Have you tried pasting as "Unformatted text", via Edit | Paste
Special?

Pasting as unformatted text results in the same problem. I think the problem
is that when Word copies text, it is stored correctly when formatted but
incorrectly when not. Thus, when pasting into Word normally, Word reads the
formatted text on the clipboard, so the text pastes correctly. However, when
pasting as plain text in Word (or pasting into Notepad), the program reads
the incorrect unformatted text copied by Word.
