Copy text from word 2003 to notepad

When coping text from Word 2003 into notepad you also recieve extra
formatting characters: Example follows. The [box] represents the extra
character that is added on.

Test [box]
Test ‎[box]
Test ‎[box]

If coping from Word 2003 to wordpad then to notepad the extra characters are
not displayed. Is there a fix for this issue instead of this work around?

You are probably experiencing a formatting error. Why are you even
trying to copy information from Word to WordPad or NotePad?

It's "copying" - it's one of the words that *DOESN'T lose the 'y' before you
add '-ing', otherwise it's the present participle of 'cope'.

It is not copying from Word 2003 to notepad that is the problem. The problem
is when coping from Word 2003 into a mainframe application that is the
problem. We were able to recreate the problem by copying from Word 2003 to
notepad and felt that would be easier for someone to troubleshoot.

I'm unable to reproduce this issue. If I copy text from Word 2003 to
the Notepad then there are no additional characters added.

Are you using a document you created New in Word 2003 or documents
that were previously another format but converted to Word?

The issue comes up when spaces or tabs are added at the end of a line in Word
2003. For example:

test<space><enter>

If I type this into Word 2003 and then copy it into notepad the space will
be represented by a unususal character.
