copy & update fails on contacts with custom fields

Hi!
If I copy a contact from one folder to the other and the contact exists in
de destination folder I wil be prompted if I want to update. If I do the
same thing and there are custom fields involved in one (or both) of the two
then I am not prompted and I get duplicate contacts.

Running Outlook 2000.

How can I resolve this?

This is by design. If custom fields or forms are involved, the automatic duplicate checking is not invoked.

Thank you Sue. By now I have tried in Outlook XP and it seems to work fine
there. Maybe we can use that as a solution.
