I'm trying to copy a web page "screen shot" into a powerpoint slide on
my Mac (10.4.9). I read about this on a previous thread (from 2005),
but I can't get it to work. Can anyone help? Tx Frederic

Can you be a bit more specific about how you are going about it & what is
going wrong? Are you using the OS keystrokes (see AppleMenu>System
Preferences>Keyboard & Mouse - Keyboard Shortcuts) or you using Grab or some
other screen capture utility?

The issue is that I have no idea what to do. I have a particular
webpage open in my browser (Firefox 2) that I would like to copy into
a slide. First I tried "save page as" to desktop and then import it
again into powerpoint that did not work, then I tried to select with
grabber and it won't drag it to the desktop. When I save to the
desktop i get two files, one with all the content, named "files" and
then another with the same number but with the .html suffix. I assumed
this should be a fairly straighforward thing...sorry I can't be more
specific, I'm just trying out various things as the straighforward
copy/paste apparently won't do here.

Go to the Web page. Then open the Grab program. From the Capture menu,
choose Window. Be sure your window is showing behind the dialog box named
"Window Grab." Click Choose Window. Grab will now let you save the
picture, so you should save it to your hard drive.

Next, open the PowerPoint presentation and go to the Insert menu and
choose Picture and From File. Navigate to the picture you just saved and
insert it.

A couple of alternatives if you don't need to save the screen shot as a
file:

1- Using Grab as David suggested: Once you take the screen shot (rather than
saving as a file) go to Grab's Edit menu & copy, then go to your slide &
paste, or

2- Bypass Grab altogether: While viewing the page key Shift+Option+Command+3
(or one of the other keystrokes listed in the System Prefs for Keyboard &
Mouse), then go to the slide & paste.

Does copy and paste still cause problems when transferring from a Mac to a
Windows computer. In the past, it has always been better to save to a file
and insert from the file.

Hi David -

I'm afraid that issue is still as real as ever... I would fully agree with
using the Insert procedure for most graphics. In the case of a screen
capture, though, I'm not sure it makes much of a difference since you're
only dealing with 72 ppi in the first place. Composition probably has an
influence as well.
