Copying a distribution list from one address book to another

I have a distribution list I would like to share with
another person so that she can use it in her address
book. She has either Outlook or Outlook Express and I
have Outlook. How can I give it to her so she does not
have to retype each entry? Is there a way to email it to
her and then have her add it to her address book? Is
there a way to copy it to a CD so that she can then add
it to her address book?

distribuions list to her contacts folder or address book

No, they are not interchangeable. The Address Book does not exist. It is
merely a view of the Contacts Folder and cannot be used for importing,
exporting or entering data.

You do not use import/export for this process. To transfer a DL, you must
insert it as an Outlook Item into a message in RTF format. The recipient
simply opens and saves it to get it into their Contacts Folder.

I need some further help. How do I insert a DL "as an
Outlook item in a message in RTF format?" Am I to assume
that you are talking about inserting this 'item" in the
text part of an email message? I need pretty specific
instructions. Thanks.

First, set your message format to RTF. Start a new message. Once you are in
the message body, click on the Paper clip icon in your Toolbar and select
"Item..."
Select the DL you want to send from the dialog box.
Send the message.

could attach something to an email that was not just a

Hello,
I did exactly what you said and sending it worked perfect. I sent it
to myself. I opened the distribution list from the body of the
e-mail, changed the name to something different, then pressed Save and
Close. No new distribution list in Contacts. Only the original one.
Any idea what I did wrong?

Another question: Someone sent me a distribution list (an OFT file) as
an e-mail attachment. Is there any way to get this into my Contacts
as a distribution list? I tried dragging and dropping but that didn't
work.

If you already have the DL in your Contacts, rename it, not the attachment.

Thanks for the info, Russ. For some reason, opening the DL from the
body of the e-mail and clicking Save and Exit did not work. But,
dragging the icon from the body of the e-mail to my Contacts did work.

I was able to finally get the .oft DL file into my Contacts. I opened
it and did a Save As as a .msg file. Dragged and dropped into my
Contacts. Worked like a charm.
