Copying access data from one computer to another

I copied access file from my laptop to my desk top. On the
desk top I get a message that the data base is read only
and I cannot modify data on my desk top. How do I get
round it?

Hi.

Did you copy the database file to a CD, then install it on a non-Windows XP
operating system, such as Windows 2K?

If so, then open Windows Explorer and navigate to the directory where the
database is stored. Right click on the database file name and select
Properties from the pop-up menu. Remove the check mark from the "Read Only"
file attribute and select the "OK" button to save your change.

If not, check to ensure that your Windows user account has "Full Control"
permissions on the directory where the database file is stored and, if this
directory is shared by a network, every other user accessing the database
file also has "Full Control" permissions on this directory, too.
