With Word 2003, I had been successful at updating a user style template by
attaching the style template to a document, updating the style in the
document via FORMAT's Styles and Formatting, then replying YES to the save
document prompt and YES to the save changes to .DOT prompt.
Then, I had been successful in using Tools' Templates and Add-Ins to apply,
in one fell swoop, the updated styles (from the updated user template) to
other Word documents.
Now, when I update a style and save document and save .DOT, the user
template is apparently not updated. This is confirmed by my attaching it to a
document, checking 'automatically update document styles', and seeing that
the styles in the document are not updated. They do not reflect the updates I
tried to make to the user template.
Further, I tried to use the Templates and Add-Ins organizer to copy styles
several ways, document to document, template to document, document to
template, etc. Nothing worked. I was never able to update styles in the
target document or template.
Can you help or suggest?
Thanks,
Zane
