Copying and pasting a drawing

I find it hard to believe that you can't copy a drawing from one vsd file and
paste it in another! Can someone help me this?

Why do you think you can't? What's going wrong?

When I try to paste, the shapes are all stacked on top of one another!
Sometimes it will not paste!

The usual questions come to mind:

What version of Visio are you using?
Is it just one particular drawing type (i.e. cross functional flow chart
or org chart)?
Have you installed all the service packs that are available for your
version?

I'm using Visio 2002. I'm not sure if we have any service packs for this
version.
i'll have to check on that. My drawing is a floorplan of a datacenter with
about 100 racks laid out. All rectangle boxes with text and color. I thought
it should just be a simple copy and paste. It worked one time before! Any
suggestions????

You also go looking for page setup, scale, styles and a host of other
variables.
