Copying and pasting checkboxes

I have a form that I am creating with many (60 or so) checkboxes. I have created a row of them with one per cell, but when I try to copy them and paste them down, they don't match up with the column they were originally a part of. The checkboxes must continue to act as checkboxes so the form is interactive, therefore, I can't save them as pictures.

Please advise.

Checkboxes (and everything else other than values or formulae) exist on
the drawing layer above the cells, not in the cells directly.

If you select multiple checkboxes and copy/paste, the relative distances
between the checkboxes will be maintained, but the position the new
checkboxes are placed in depends on your selection (and if you paste
multiple times, the new boxes will be offset).

You can make it a little easier if you group your checkboxes (right- or
ctrl-click the multiple selection and choose Grouping/Group). Then you
can align the groups (then ungroup if desired).

Thanks J.E. That makes perfect sense. The problem I'm having now, is simply selecting multiple checkboxes. I can select multiple cells by using shift, but it won't let me select more than one individual checkbox at a time.
