Copying and pasting part of 1 slide into another

When I copy and paste part of 1 slide into another the text does dot always
appear in the same position on the slide. ( It is positioned below and to
the right of the original position ). I use Office 2000

Press the up arrow twice and the left arrow twice.
That will almost certainly move the copy back to the same position as the
original.

If you need to make sure a lot of shapes line up from slide to slide, try the

It's got a tool to memorize any shape's location and size then "hammer" any
other shape/shapes to that same position.

Thanks Steve for taking the trouble to reply. I had moved the images, taking 8 key strokes each way which is tedious and didn't always get them exactly right. I will certainly take up your other suggestion of starter set.
