Copying and pasting part of 1 slide into another

When I copy and paste part of 1 slide into another the text does dot always
appear in the same position on the slide. ( It is positioned below and to
the right of the original position ). I use Office 2000

Thanks Steve for taking the trouble to reply. I had moved the images, taking 8 key strokes each way which is tedious and didn't always get them exactly right. I will certainly take up your other suggestion of starter set.
