copying and pasting

I have Windows 98. I had Office 97 and upgraded to
Windows XP. When I try to copy and paste images from the
internet onto my word document or powerpoint it will not
do it. My clipboard reads "image not available." I tried
saving it then inserting. The image is in the file, but
it will not insert either. HELP
