Copying before opening Word...

K

KAR

....My OS is Windows XP.

If I see something on the net that I want to paste into a word doc and I
copy before opening word, I'm unable to paste what I've copied when the word
Program is launched.

I've seen this problem posted on the MS Word forums but have yet to see an
answer/explanation; I'm assuming my issue is not an anomaly and that there
is probably a fix. I hope my problem is stated comprehensibly. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. (I've checked the FAQ here and didn't see
this question addressed.)

TIA

It usually means that the Works plug-in is installed. Cure: uninstall it.

If you got Word 2002 as part of Works Suite, then the problem is caused by
the Microsoft Works Suite Add-in for Word, which clears the Clipboard every
time Word is started (and that's only one of its many nasty habits). If
you're running Word freestanding (not starting it from the Works Task
Launcher) and are reasonably sure you will never need to use a Works
database or address book as a data source for a Word mail merge, uninstall
the add-in through Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs. This doesn't
uninstall Works, just the add-in that causes trouble in Word.

Thanks.

I uninstalled. I guess if I find some strange need to have Word be a part
of the Works package, I can reinistall.

Much appreciated.
