I am running dual boot - transitioning from windows 98 to Windows XP. I am
running Outlook 98 as my primary email client in windows 98 client. I am
running Outlook XP, or I undertand it is also called Outlook 2002. I need to
begin moving setting over. I need to move my contacts and calendar and other
stuff over. Any thoughts on how this can be done?

1.. Create a folder on your 2nd partition and call it Windows98_bakup.
2.. Export your PST and PAB to the folder you created or copy and paste.
3.. Do not move or cut and paste.
4.. In Office XP configure a new profile and add or import your PST and
PAB.

Copy your Personal Folders file (usually C:\Windows\Outlook.pst on a Windows
98/Outlook 98 system) to the Windows XP partition. Open it with Outlook
(File>Open>Outlook Data File>Personal Folders File). Make it your default
delivery location. All done.

It appears that my contacts are now present. I can open up "tools" and
"address book" and it appears my contacts are present there too. However,
when I open up a new message and click on the TO: or CC: or BCC: .. I
usually would get a form of my address book to come up, within which I can
select from the persons I want to sent TO: or BCC: or CC:. but in my case
this list is empty. I am trying to figure out why and what I can do to get
my list of contacts to come up in this list box again.

Any ideas?

You probably have a ghost Contacts Folder in your Outlook Address Book List.
Check to see and remove the duplicate here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change.

I had only one "Outlook Address Book" listed. I removed it, closed Outlook.
Re-opened Outlook, and then went back and added it again. That still didn't
make my "contacts come up, when I click on the "to:" button. The list was
still empty :(

That's not what I said to do.
Read again. I said to use the Change button to make sure you have only valid
references to Contacts Folders. Make sure you restart Outlook.

What does Outlook 2002 use in place of PAB?

Where is the PAB file located in windows 98 and on Windows XP?

Outlook 2002 doesn't use PABs

Contacts.

Two things to check: first, in Folder View, right-click on Contacts and
click Properties. Click the "Outlook Address Book" tab. Is "Show this
folder as an e-mail Address Book" checked? If not, do so. If that doesn't
work, shut down Outlook and open Control Panel\Mail. Select your profile
and choose Properties. Remove the Outlook Address book service and re-add
it. Check the box in step one. Your Contacts should now appear in the
address list when you click the To button.
