copying conditional formating

Alpal

Hi,

I am new to this web site, so bear with me. I am trying to develop a
spreadsheet where the font will turn red if the information in D1 is
different than that in A1. Then I want to copy or repeat that conditional
formating accross the row so that if H1 is different than E1 it will turn the
font red. Copying the conditional formatting doesn't show as an option in
special paste, and repeat keeps the reference cell as D1 for all the cells I
repeat to.

Also,

Is there a way to write a formula to tell excell in one cell to sum all the
numbers in a row if the cell 2 places prior matches a specific value.
Example:

If t8 =zz1, +r8 AND if X8 = zz1+v8...etc.

(I actually would love to attach a sample sheet, but don't see a way to do
so).

Any help is appreciated.

If you copy and paste special and select formatting it will carry over the
conditional formatting as well
You can also use the format painter (paint brush icon) and slap the
formatting around

=D1<>A1

it's important that you use relative references assuming that you use the
same cells relative to each other
