Copying contacts to address list

I just transfered my .pst file from Outlook 2000 to my
new computer running Outlook XP. All my existing mail
and contacts are showing up, but when I try to create new
mail or forward mail and click on To: I get the following
error message: "The address list could not be
displayed. The contacts folder associated with this
address list could not be opened;it may have been moved
or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For
information on how to remove this folder from the outlook
address book, see Microsoft Outlook Help."
Can someone please help me. Should I delete the contacts
folder and reenter all the data?

1. Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book,
right click the folder choose Properties and Outlook Address Book ensure
checkbox to enable as email address book is checked; if this is dimmed or
greyed then go on to No.2

2. Go to Tools > Email Accounts > check "View or change existing
directories or address books" > is the Outlook Address Book present > if it
is present then remove it close and restart Outlook and then re-add it > if
it isn't present then add it > close and restart Outlook.

Thanks Robert for your help. I have struggled with this same issue for
3 weeks now and finally have resolution!

Thanks. That did it. But now how do I make the Contacts
folder the default address book?
