Copying Data Changes to An Image

When right click/copying text from Outlook/Word/Excel and
pasting into Outlook/Word/Excel, the data is pasted as an
image (a small gray button looking rectangle with a blue
and red line on it). Ctrl/c copying the data does not
result in this.

Also, right click/paste and Ctrl/v do not determine what's
pasted; only copying via right click/copy does this.

Any ideas as to what could possibly be causing this?

I'm using Office 97 on a networked W2K machine.
