Copying from One Note 2007

I'm using ON07 to store documents that I can use as sources for other word
documents.

I need to learn how to copy a section of a page from ON to Word.

You could select it and copy & paste it into Word.
Or you can use File, Save As and choose Microsoft Office Word Document
from the save as type combobox. Either select doc for Word 97-2003 or
docx for Word 2007.

Would that still be true if it was a scanned image/text?

If it's scanned, you'll get an image in Word. If you want the OCRed text
(which probably has quite a few errors), right-click the image and
select copy text. Then paste that into Word.

If I type text onto a ON page and subsequently copy and paste it into an
Outlook message, it pastes as an image. Is it necessary to go through MS Word
to get text from ON into an email message?

I pastes it as text here.
You can always use Paste Special and select a text format there. Click
the part of the Paste button on the Message tab that contains the word
paste with the arrow.
