copying from the internet onto Word documents

Every time I try to copy content from a web page onto a Word document, the
Word program locks up and I have to force-quit. It never used to do this.
What caused this problem and how do I fix it?

Are you sure Word isn't waiting for the web site contents to download. Does
this happen from any web site you are trying to copy or just one particular
web site?

No, I'm not sure of that, but how long should I wait? It occurs with all
websites. The problem is on my home PC, which has Word 2000. My laptop has
Word XP and does not have this problem. That suggests the problem is
somewhere in Word, not on the internet.

If you open WordPad and try to copy/paste from Explorer, does it work ok? If
so, try starting Word in Safe Mode by opening Start, Run and typing in

winword /a

and pressing enter. Are you now able to Paste from Explorer into Word?
