copying in excel 2004 mac

K

ken

HI,
I just upgraded to 2004 for the mac (OSX). Now I can't copy from
excel cells into other programs. I can copy from excel into word
(2004) and then copy from there into another program...but for some
reason from excel directly doesn't work (nothing shows up). It is
strange, because if I look at the mac clipboard it does seem to appear
there but nowhere else.
any suggestions?

I was able to copy and past into other application, including a text
file.

The problem I have is that it looses all formatting. Meaning no line
seperation.

When I pasted into Entourage (another office 2004 app) I had to past
it as a picture to preserve the formatting.

Try using the Scrapbook. It's available in all Office apps, including
Entourage.

Not sure what you mean by "line separation" - I can paste from XL to
Entourage with all line breaks and rows pasted just fine.

Hi,

Metturman is referring to grid lines. His observations are accurate for
me. Entourage does not support OLE objects, so the only way to have grid
lines visible is to paste as a picture.

A hint for Metturman: When in Excel, hold the shift key down while use
Edit > Copy and you'll get more copying options to choose from.

Thanks. That's an interest hint. With shift key I can copy it as a
picture and even if the detination does not give me a paste special
option, I can still paste and get the formatting (OLE).

Some one suggested scrap book. But the scrap book behavior is no
different than regular copy/paste.
