Copying multiple contacts from an email to a Contact folder

A friend sent me several emails, each with >50 "embedded" contacts. (When I open each email, the contacts show up as contact icons with the person's name below the icon... nothing unusual here.) I want to copy all of these into a contact folder. When I drag a single contact from an email and drop it on the contact folder, it is copied and I am happy. But when I select multiple contacts from an email and drop it on the contact folder, a new contact window opens and nothing is copied (or, if I select a large number of contacts, after waiting for several seconds, I get an error message saying that 'no source was provided'). I have also tried selecting multiple contacts, hitting Edit/Copy, selecting the contact folder and then tried to select Edit/Paste ... but Edit/Paste is grayed out

I hate the thought of dragging and dropping 150 contacts, one at a time from email messages into a Contacts folder. Any suggestions?
