Copying Outlook 2003 pst files

I am trying to back up my pst files on to an external hard drive but am
getting the error message "Cannot copy archive: The process cannot access the
file because another process has locked a portion of the file." for the
archive.pst file and a similiar message for the Outlook.pst file. Can anyone
tell me how to solve this problem? Thanks in advance...

Exit Outlook completely before you try to copy the files.

Is outlook.exe shown in running processes? (Ctrl+Al +Del)
Do you have any desktop search accessing the pst's?

Then you didn't exit Outlook completely. See if its still running in Task
manager. Try again after a reboot.
