Copying shapes

I'm trying to copy a shape ..seems pretty straigh forward...done it in
another MS Visio program millions of times...this program MS Visio 2003
copies the shape but when user pastes the shape ...the shape is some other
default shape...doesn't retain the original shape size....HELP...It's a pain
to resize copied shapes.
