Copying Tables from Word into PowerPoint

Does anyone know how to copy a landscape table from Word into
PowerPoint?

I have a table with all kinds of formatting in Microsoft Word that I
want to past into PowerPoint. I want it to look exactly in PowerPoint
as it does in Word. I prefer it in PowerPoint with editable text, but
it's ok if it's a picture object.

The table is in a landscape orientation word document.

If I do a simple copy and paste into Powerpoint, I get a mess. If I
paste as a picture, it comes out as a table in the narrower portrait
orientation with the text messed up.

In previous versions of Word there was a "Copy as Picture" command or
a camera button that copied a picture of the table or text exactly as
it apperead in Word. I can no longer find either. Has Word been
"enhanced" to remove those features?

I'm using a dual 1.25 GHz PowerPC G4 with 1GB DDR SDRAM, system OS X
10.3.4. and Microsoft Word X for Mac service Release 1.

Thanks,
Wayne

Hi Wayne:

There's your problem! You have entirely too much memory. Send half of it
to me and your worries will be over :)

Seriously: this all just worked for me. I suspect that you did not use
Table>Select>Table in Word, so you do not have the entire table structure on
the clipboard.

If you did, when you chose Edit>Paste Special in PowerPoint, you would have
had the option of pasting either a Microsoft Word Document, or a Picture.
Either would have worked. If necessary, the table will be scaled to fit.
If you chose RTF, the table will be reformatted on paste.

If you simply hit Command + v (Edit Paste) the table will paste OK by
default.

However, there are some gotchas: one is that if you want to paste a table
in, it is better to start with a blank slide, not a Table slide :)

Hope this helps
