Copying text from OneNote to Messenger always pastes as jpg

Whenever I copy text from Microsoft OneNote 2007 and try to paste it in to
Microsoft Windows Live Messenger it pastes as a jpg image. How can I stop
that from happening, I want to be able to paste it as straight ASCII text?

More details - if I copy from OneNote and paste to IM it pastes as a JPG
which the other person is asked to download. If I immediately go in to
Outlook 2007 and paste it is pasted as text.
