Why doesn't my copyright symbol publish correctly? On the published web page
it becomes a ?.

How are you inserting the symbol?

I have first removed formatting and then at the insert point done from the
menu, 'Insert' and then 'Symbol' and then chosen the copyright symbol. It
views correctly in FP03 but when published it comes out as the question mark
(?). On the published page when I select the text and copy/paste to Word it
views as the ? also. In site settings - language tab - I am using the FP
default of 'US/Western European (windows)' encoding.

Thanks for any help.

How does it appear in Code View?

The code is:

<p>Send mail to <a href="###">
<!--webbot bot="Substitution" s-variable="CompanyWebmaster" --></a> with
questions or comments about
this web site.<br>
Copyright © 2004
<!--webbot bot="Substitution" s-variable="CompanyLongName" --><br>
Last modified:
<!--webbot bot="TimeStamp" s-type="EDITED" s-format="%m/%d/%y" -->
</p>

I also use the Symbol Insert to insert the ©, but I also apply a font tag to it, see:
http://www.ycoln-design.com/ (bottom left)

I don't use the Substitution Webbot, use ASP and a FP Include Page, so that year is always correct.

I think you might solve the problem by assigning a font directly or via CSS.

Thomas,

I will be working on your suggestions more but the first thing I did was to
add a font tag. I published it and it came up with the ? again. I looked at
the source code for that page that is published and to my surprise code shows
the © symbol but the web page does not. Could this be related to my browser
and the setting? I can't find anything out of the ordinary there. I have IE 6
with all critical updates and service packs. I also looked at pages that have
the copyright and the source code also shows the correct symbol there but not
in the browser window. I am really confused here.

I'm interested to hear your response on this one. Thanks.

What font and character set are you using in the page?
- some don't have the copyright symbol
