copyright symbol

I would like to enter (c) into a cell. When I do that,
excel automatically inserts the copyright symbol ©. What
can I do to shut this off so I can have a list that reads
(a) (b) (c) ..... (p) (q) (r) (s) (t).... (z) instead of:

(a) (b) © ..... (p) (q) ® (s) (t).... (z) ???

Can anyone help?

And *either*
Uncheck "ReplaceTextAsYouType"
OR
Delete the appropriate symbol replacements.

You can delete the entry from tools>autocorrect or press space and Ctrl + Z
after you have typed it

Tools > Autocorrect
Select the appropriate entry in the list (it's the first one in mine!) and
delete it.
