Correct entry in dictionary

I have a custom.dic (default) where I corrected spelling entry I added
incorrectly. Yet, when I spell check and am using the correct spelling it
is still being flagged and the dictionary want to replace with the incorrect
spelling. I can't find the location of the dictionary that has the
incorrect entry so I can correct it. This is driving me buggy LOL..... J

What version of Word are you using?

If you're using Word 2007, try this:

Office button - Word Options - Proofing - Custom Dictionaries - Edit Word
List.

If Word 2003 or earlier, begin with Tools - Options - Spelling & Grammar
tab - Custom Dictionaries - Modify.

Not sure seeing the screen shots would help. When you click Office button,
Word Options, Proofing tab, Custom Dictionaries, do you see shared.dic
and/or CUSTOM.DIC under Dictionary List?

Or, are you saying you've made the changes, but they don't "take"?

In Vista/Word 2007, the CUSTOM.DIC file usually is stored here:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\UProof

If it's a shared file, it would be here:

C:\Users\Public

If you edit the file using Edit Word List, Word automatically/immediately
reloads the changed list into memory. If you edit the file by navigating
there and using Word as the editor, the unchanged version remains in memory
until you close Word and restart. So, if changes you make aren't showing up,
this could be the problem.

Also... if you right-click the word and choose Add to dictionary, does that
the flagged misspelling stop?

If not... it is being flagged as a misspelling (red), and not as a
contextual (blue) error... right?

only custom the screen shots are of the dic options list (only custom
available), the dic edit list showing the word spelled correctly,....and the
correct spell dialogues showing it wants to correct the word. Hope this
helps
