I've gone from a computer with Win 98 (and Word 97) to a new computer with
Win XP (and with MS Office 2003 already installed in it). My spellcheck in
Word 2003 gives me an error message, not sure what to do about it. Tried
calling the computer maker (Toshiba) but had a LONG wait for a supervisor
and didn't get to finish trying to solve it (didn't want a
not-very-knowledgeable "regular" tech). Someone in another NG suggested I
try here.

The error message: "MS Office Word cannot install the necessary files due
to Windows Installer error 1610."

Well my question is why did the chicken cross the road?
I know that has nothing to do with Office 2003, but I
already asked the question in the MS Access group, and
wanted to make sure I wasnt double posting in the same
room
