correct root certificate work around?

The school where I work (which is all-Windows, except for a handful of
us who insist on using Macs) has just done an upgrade to Exchange, and
I can no longer send or receive emails through Entourage. I now get an
error message reading: "Unable to establish a secure connection to
schoolmail.school.on.ca because the correct root certificate is not
installed." [I have replaced the school's name with the word "school.]
The help menu takes me to a page that says I have to click on the
correct root certificate to install it. Similarly, on Firefox when I
tried to view the school's email page, I received an error message
about the certificate. In Firefox, I was able to create an exception.
I tried taking the certificate from Firefox and installing it in
Entourage, but this did not work. The school's network guy has said he
will look into it, but (needless to say), this is not a priority for
him.

I'm on Entourage 12.2.1 and OS X 10.5.8.

Is there some way I can work around this on my end?

Thanks

Should add, the certificate I got from Firefox reads "This certificate
was signed by an unknown authority" when you view it in the Keychain.

Additional note: I have told Keychain to trust the certificate, but I
now get an error message saying "Unable to establish a secure
connection to schoolmail.school.on.ca because the server name or IP
address does not match the name or IP address on the server's
certificate."

Update...

The other user had "This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL)"
turned off which is why he was not getting the error.

When he turned it on... he gets the same error.
We even tried to X509Anchors import without success.

Resolved...

turns out the cert I was given was the wrong one. Using the correct .crt I
imported it into system and all is well now.
