correcting MS-FP 2003 DOWNLOADED web site & its database pages?

I downloaded the whole site--WHEREISMYDOCTOR.ORG--using FP2003. I built the
LIST of NAME web page in one sys and now need to correct its database
entries--add and delete--but the people I'll be using mainly know FP
versions. Can this correcting be done in MS-FP2003? We seem to be able to
manipulate the data OK in FP2003 but for some reason it doesn't hold up after
saving. The database is a list of 2300 names and each time I'll be adding and
deleting names I wanted to use FP to do that for me because we're all
familiar with it and not the other programs. Any ideas or better program
ideas? Sure would appreciate it very much. The info was orig. created in
WORD without any special tags. Plain ASCII TXT.

You can't use FP to open and add data to the database; you need to use the
ASP pages created by Frontpage Database wizard(s) to edit, add, delete
records i.e. the Database Interface Wizard/Results Wizard..

That is, if I understand your question correctly - you're after a way to
enter the records into a database - a db like Access, not just a list
created in Word? You can use MS Access 2000/XP/2003 and open the DB on your
hard drive, make the changes and re-publish the mdb file to the fpdb folder.

I also use this product http://1clickbd.com which is a basic admin interface
written in ASP for opening and editing access, excel, mysql /sql server &
oracle database files. A good little program, not hard to use. Makes use of
the password-protection that Access has, so it can be secured in that
respect, and probably run over https: connections also.

You'd need to manually enter the data into a database, or excel spreadsheet
with field names etc, then connect the db through the wizard(s) in FP.

FP has issues with importing word documents; you might be able to copy and
paste the data into a frontpage file. On the otherhand, you can just update
the Word file in Word, make a link in your FP web and publish the .doc file.

Andrew,
Thanks very much for the info. I wish we'd never started with something we
all knew as that is the basis of our problem now: we don't know enough abnout
databases and spreadsheets--apparently the best programs to enter and edit
entries done by several people simultaneously. We were taking our constantly
updated WORD list to a firm via email and letting them do the uploading via
the
their special DB programs. But now, after the hurricanes, they've moved to
better locations out of town, and we're here--28 miles away from ground
zero--doing our "old thing" with WORD. Now we see it is impossible and we've
got to start learning the easiest way to stay on top of changes minute by
minute and either upload them in one of the database programs ourselves or
hire another company on an hourly basis while we learn the new things.

I'm going to try your suggestion again--I did earlier and could only find
pages and sites that were selling the program, 1clickdb and none that
explained it very well. Now I have time and will return and complete the
search.

Thanks again,
Blake Mooney
