correcting rows and columns permanently

Thank you for helping me fix the numbers being in both the rows and
columns. Is there a way to permanently fix this? Every time I export
something to excel it still shows up the same. I don't mind haveing
to correct it every time but just wondering if there is something to
do about that.

Thanks,
Gen

If your preferences aren't sticking, there are two possibilities I can
think of (assuming your "export" isn't changing your preferences):

1) corrupt preferences. Try, with XL closed, renaming or deleting the

~:Library:preferences:MIcrosoft:com.microsoft.Excel.prefs.plist

file (where ~ is your home directory).

2) your startup template has columns set to display as numbers. Check
the startup folder for a template file named Workbook:

HD:Applications:Microsoft Office 2004:Office:Startup:Excel:Workbook

or the alternate startup folder if you've set one in Preferences/General.
