Corrupt database, recovery?

After a stupid mistake i have a corrupted database file, error reading "The
database is in an unexpected state..."
After searching the internet i have found various programs that repair the
file but all cost close to $399. While the database is important its not
/that/ important!

Is there anything i can do myself or any free Access recovery programs out
there?

Many thanks, Blue

try using JETCOMP.exe to see if you can compact it
(repair corruption), see: ACC2000: Jet Compact Utility Available in
Download Center
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;273956

Also to make sure it's not your machine down and install the latest service
pack the Microsoft JET Database Engine

Here's another article to assist with corruption in Microsoft Access
databases

I hope this helps!

After using the Jet Compactor i got the same error. Unfortunately they other
links didn't help either, thanks for trying though!
Strangely, the data in my system is not important, just the file structure
and above all the forms themselves!
Any more ideas or third party software?

If you don't mind me seeing your data you could send it to me and I could
give it a shot.

It might help if you describe the stupid error. Don't be shy. We've all done
a few ourselves. For example I personally know that opening up a .mdb file in
Word then saving it totally destroys the database with no chance of recovery
although you might be able to pull out some of the data manually.

Do you have a backup. There's nothing like a recent backup to save your
bacon.

For more information on corruption including possible causes,
determining the offending PC, retrieving your data, links, official MS
KB articles and a list of vendors who state they can fix corruption

To be honest im not entirely sure what happened!
I was working on my database, stored on a memory stick, and i tried to save
another file onto my memory stick only to find there wasn't enough space. A
windows balloon message popped up saying the file, database, could not be
saved, try saving it somewhere else. I closed the database and upon trying
to open it again came across this error message.

RE: Eric Blitzer
I've sent you my database, hope you can find something of use!

Thanks again

Blue
