Thanks Diane. I had used Entourage for a number of weeks before it become
corrupt (I also had installed the upgrades MS Office 2008 SP1 Update.dmg and
12.0.1.) My Entourage is 2008 (v. 12.0.0). Because of the corruption it wont
allow me to re-install MS Office 2008 SP1 Update.dmg or any other upgrade.
Move the Microsoft User Data folder to the desktop. When you open Entourage
it will create a new blank Microsoft User Data folder. You should now be
able to continue the updates.
First some basics....
12.0.1 was rolled into the 12.1.0 (SP1) updater.
All subsequent updaters have been rolled into the 12.2.0 (SP2) updater.
Now that you understand what updates are needed, when you install using your
DVD that comes with 12.0.0 (newer DVDs come with 12.1.0 installed), you only
need the two updaters.
Be sure you follow the directions here about accessing the Microsoft
AutoUpdater (MAU) by logging out/in with Shift key down. Restarting between
updates is IMPORTANT.
Steps to re-install Office
<

(if this fails you need to use "Remove Office" and manually remove some
files. <
http://www.entourage.mvps.org/install/remove_office.html> )
Once you are fully updated, open Entourage. Check all your Office
applications. If everything is working correctly, then quit Entourage.
Drag from the Microsoft User Data folder on the desktop your "Main
Identity." Place the "Main Identity" in the Office 2008 Identities folder.
Open Entourage. I'm not sure if you will get a corrupt error or not. If you
are advised to rebuild, make a duplicate in the Finder first as additional
backup. A rebuild does make a duplicate, but sometimes in the process the
original and backup get merged resulting in total disaster. It's rare but
it happens.

Let me know if the install goes OK and what the status of your database is
after you update.
Good luck!
