Corrupt Document?

word 2001 mac

Hi,

A document will print in entirety. But when I ask for page one to print, or
I add page breaks bracketing a paragraph, which shows as page 2, I cannot
get page 1 or page 2 to print. I can get other documents to print in these
forms.

Somewhere in trying to get these alternates to print, I got a dialogue that
included the words Œcorrupt document¹. That dialogue has not shown up again
and I don¹t know what the entire dialogue said.

Suggestions?

Hi Rafael:

I think you have two problems:

1) In a multi-section document, to get a single page to print you must also
nominate the section. You may want to read the help topic " Print specific
pages and sections".

2) The words "corrupt document" are the only words you need to read :)
That warning is generally correct. It normally means that the style
definitions in the document are screwed: usually, the bullets and numbering
list templates.

The simplest cure is to save as Web Page, close, open the web page and save
as a new document.

Hope this helps

I'm not sure that's the best way to go in Word 2001. I'd recommend what
John calls "Doing a Maggie": Copy all but the last paragraph mark and paste
into a blank new document. There's more on this in the Corrupt Document
section of the article which you should have memorized by now, Rafael:

Eeeewww.... Beth's right: Use a Maggie, not a web-page, in Word 2001 :)

Sorry I missed that Rafael...

The difference is that Word 2001's HTML is not rich enough to fully describe
a Word document, you lose too much. Word 2004 writes more XML into the
file, so you retain almost everything from he Word file in the web file.

Cheers
