Corrupt Enterprise Global??

Shane

Hello -

I have an instance that has upgraded to the February CU in the last 2 weeks.
Their admin has informed me that some of his macros no longer work.

Taking a closer look here are some points about it:

If you try to "Step Into" the code of the macro a message flashes up saying
"Error accessing file: Network connection may have been lost"

It says the same message if you try to run the macro also.

Checking all the macros, I noticed there are 2 macros that display when I
open the EntGlobal

- "PMOView" that displays in the Global Template
- "Checked Out Enterprise Global!PMOView" that displays in the Checked out
Enterprise Global

Both of these share the shortcut key CTRL Q. Attempting to change either of
these causes the error above.

If you try to delete either of these macros, it asks if you want to delete
it and then when you click ok, it does not do it.

Any help on how to handle this would be appreciated.

Regards
Shane

You have a corrupted enterprise global.
The fact that the same module is in both Checked out enterprise global and
the cached enterprise global is expected behavior. You should try working
with (deleting) the one in the checked out enterprise global. Then close and
save it. THen exit project. Then delete your cache. Then reopen project. It
may not cure it, but that is where I'd start.

Thanks Jack but when I try to delete the macro it just stays in the list

Any other suggestions?

I have this exact same problem. Unfortunately, when I try to run eglobal.sql
I get the following errors:

Msg 2812, Level 16, State 62, Line 2
Could not find stored procedure 'dbo.MSP_WINPROJ_DELETE_EGLOBAL_PROJECT'.
Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 3
Invalid object name 'dbo.MSP_COUNTER_EGLOBAL'.
Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Line 2
Invalid object name 'dbo.MSP_PROJECTS'.

What could be causing this?

It turns out I was running this with osql and was connecting to the server
but was not specifying the initial database. After I added -d
ProjectServer_Published it worked fine.

Hi Gary,

Same problem, and there is no Admin Backup here as well...

Is there any risk to the existing project files and/or resources on Server
2007, when we flush the Enterprise Global? ie., is there any other
prequisites before doing this procedure you've provided? Do the users need
to be logged off (when there is only a fresh Enterprise Global), etc., to
prevent us from digging into a deeper whole?

Thanks in advance,
/Spiro.

Also, if we have a half decent Admin Backup from one of our other
environments, would it be possible to transfer it to our problem environment?
If so, how?

You mention in the blog that "If you are using Project Server 2007, your
enterprise custom fields are no longer stored in the Enterprise Global File."

Does that mean that we will have to re-assign the enterprise field values
back to each of the projects and resources?

/Spiro.

Thank goodness, you had me worried that I'd be typing all morning responding
to you!<g>
